What this page matches
- Setup type is BB_SQUEEZE_RELEASE
- Net score of 38 or higher — a squeeze release on a pair scoring below that is rated NONE, and a NONE-stage pair never reaches the live list this page filters
The gate before the points
A Bollinger Band squeeze on its own is not a setup — bands narrow all the time on pairs nobody is trading. So the detector refuses to score at all unless one of two things is true on the current bar: band width is expanding, or volume is at least 1.3 times the 72-hour median. A quiet pair with compressed bands and no activity scores zero and never reaches this list.
How the match score adds up
Past the gate, points accumulate toward 100. A squeeze that is actually releasing — width was at a local minimum and is now widening — takes 35, the largest single component. Volume at 2.0x or better adds 25 as confirmation, and 1.3x adds 12. A close sitting at or above 65% of the way from the candle's low to its high adds 20, since an expansion resolving downward produces the same widening bands as one resolving up. Being between 0 and 12% above the EMA25 adds 15, on the reasoning that a pair already far beyond it has spent the move. A StochRSI %K under 70 adds 10.
Nine pattern detectors run on every pair each scan and only the highest scoring one is recorded, with anything under 30 discarded as no setup. A pair labelled here therefore cleared 30 and beat eight alternative readings of the same candles.
Volatility, not direction
Bollinger Bands describe dispersion around a moving average. A squeeze says the recent range has compressed; a release says the compression is ending. What it does not say is which way. The close-location and EMA terms above are the detector's attempt to lean the reading bullish, and they are weak evidence — a lean, not a call. The honest measurement of how much any of this scoring is worth is on the track record page.
This page ranks candidates by construction — it is not a prediction and not a recommendation to buy or sell anything. See the track record for what this scoring has and has not demonstrated out of sample.
